Guests enjoyed cocktails, wine and beer, along with delicious hors d’oeuvres and sweet treats by Posh Nosh. There were guest speakers, exciting games scattered throughout the venue, and of course, everyone had a chance to bid on an amazing line-up of silent auction items.

We were thrilled to have so many people join us to celebrate the launch of BELIEVE – Stroke Recovery Foundation! Attendees enjoyed fellowship, music, light hors d’oeuvres, ice cream from Mama Bird's, wine, beer and more, while mingling around the historic Leslie-Alford-Mims House and learning about the foundation from founders Michael & Jennifer Erwin and other Board Members.

Special thanks to the Leslie-Alford-Mims House for the gorgeous venue, and all the partner organizations that shared helpful information with guests about stroke recovery. We especially want to thank our family and friends for all the love and support during this journey of recovery and the establishment of BELIEVE - Stroke Recovery Foundation. We were honored to be a part of Becca Taylor’s 1 year Anniversary Celebration Walk 🎉at the Sports Center in Morehead City, North Carolina. Nearly $4,000 was raised for Becca and BELIEVE! 🌟 We met some AMAZING people who all have a 💗 heart for helping others on this Recovery Journey.

Michael was asked to speak about his experience at the Refresh & Retreat Stroke Camp. This event is to promote further funding for future Camp events and generate attention towards Post-Acute Care for Stroke.

Retreat & Refresh Stroke Camp - Parkton, NC (hosted by New Hanover Regional Medical Center)
The mission of Retreat & Refresh Stroke Camp is to improve the quality of life for stroke survivors, caregivers, and their families by providing fun, fellowship and support. This is accomplished through weekend retreats, as well as community stroke education and awareness events for the public.

SAC – Stroke Advisory Council

The Stroke Advisory Council was established in 2006 to advise the Justus-Warren Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Task Force on the development of a statewide system of stroke care. BELIEVE Stroke Recovery Foundation team members regularly attend the SAC quarterly meetings. On-going event.

The screening of “A Teachable Moment"; a powerful documentary that details the journey of four stroke survivors and includes many tips for stroke prevention at The Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines, NC. This is a Community Stroke Awareness Event sponsored by The Foundation of FirstHealth in Pinehurst, NC. Michael and Jennifer Erwin were guest panel members of a Question & Answer session at this event.

Strides for Speech 2019 - Annual 5K in NC to benefit TAP – Triangle Aphasia Project - a nonprofit organization that provides programming to individuals with aphasia, their families, and the community. Since 2019, BELIEVE SRF regularly attends and exhibits at this annual event.
