May is recognized as Stroke Awareness Month around the world, but BELIEVE – Stroke Recovery Foundation wants to ensure there is a renewed focus on RECOVERY during May. For the more than 795,000 people who suffer a stroke each year in the United States, the goal is to get back onto a path to recovery, so that they can regain their independence for a better quality of life.
Whether you are a stroke survivor, a caregiver, a rehabilitation center or hospital, there are many ways you can celebrate Stroke Recovery Awareness month in May. Here are some ideas that we hope you’ll consider.
WIN A CUSTOM-FITTED BOA LACER SYSTEM
BELIEVE – Stroke Recovery Foundation and BOA Fit System would like to offer 50 Stroke Warriors a chance to have their footwear fitted with the BOA customized lacer fit system ($100 value!).

Why? Because we know that the BOA Fit System makes it effortless for stroke survivors to put on their shoes with confidence, independently. It’s designed to give you the freedom to dial in the fit to your preference and is a game-changer for stroke survivors who experience the difficulty of getting in and out of their shoes each day.

ARE YOU UP FOR A CHALLENGE?
Join BELIEVE – Stroke Recovery Foundation in celebrating May as Stoke RECOVERY Awareness Month.
Objective:
Challenge hospitals, out-patient facilities that have a stroke center, interactive support groups, other nonprofits or any organization that has an interest in stroke recovery to celebrate National Stroke Awareness in the Month of May – with a focus on RECOVERY.
How Can You Participate?:
Any way you like! Recognize your doctors, nurses and therapists. Celebrate the caregivers and Stroke Warriors for their efforts, accomplishments and perseverance. Spread the word via social media, your website, your newsletters or other marketing tactics. Don’t forget to include photos with #StrokeRecovery and importantly, tag BELIEVE – Stroke Recovery Foundation (FB: @BelieveSRF; Twitter: @BelieveSrf; Instagram: @believe_srf), link to our website (www.believeSRF.org) or mention us in your shout outs. You can create Stroke Warrior t-shirts, hats or novelty items to celebrate the people in your organization who are working hard towards stroke recovery! Or, use ours and add your logo to it! Collaboration is key to stroke recovery.

COFFEE AND A GOOD CAUSE
BELIEVE – Stroke Recovery Foundation is teaming up with Esteamed Coffee to raise awareness of both National Stroke RECOVERY Awareness month (May) AND Aphasia Awareness month (June). Esteamed Coffee (114 S. Academy St. in Cary) is one of those amazing non-profits with an honorable mission – to build esteem in the community. The coffee shop and cafe opened in late 2020 and is dedicated to employing people with various disabilities. Not only do they provide delicious coffee, but they also offer a welcoming environment for ALL people.
The Event: From One Non-Profit to Another
From May 26-June 3, pop into Esteamed Coffee, grab yourself a pick-me-up, and while you’re there, purchase a BELIEVE – Stroke Recovery Foundation t-shirt. Esteamed Coffee is generously donating a portion of the proceeds from that week to BELIEVE, helping fulfill our mission of providing stroke and brain injury survivors financial assistance and resources to help them better control and manage their journey to recovery. Of course, full proceeds from the t-shirt sales will also go directly to BELIEVE.
You can make a difference! Support two local non-profits, help people with disabilities feel proud of their jobs and help stroke survivors get back onto the road to recovery.
